More Than Sexy Photos
Boudoir traditionally means a woman's bedroom and usually shows woman in lingerer in a set stage to resemble a bedroom. Women have invested in boudoir sessions as gifts for their husbands for years, as well as a gift for themselves.
But it's more than Sexy Photos.
When I began to offer boudoir I was so excited to have a safe space for people to put down their metaphorical shields and masks and be able to be themselves. To create a space to celebrate how hot they are, how far they have come in their life, achieving a goal and so much more. What I did not consider is the healing aspect boudoir can have in a clients journey.
In 2022 I did a session with my friend Jerica who had a pet snake (The Snakes name is Dragon.) It was a cool session where we used red light and the model and dragon got to sit in this throne and be badasses together. I posted those photos and this model shown above (Cody Sade) saw them. She had recently gone through an incredibly traumatic event and lost her husband. Cody and I have been friends for a long time and I messaged her about everything. When she responded she mentioned that one day in the future she would be interested in a session with the throne and maybe seeing if we could barrow Dragon because, "That is some serious badass energy." through her hardship she told me, "Trying to embrace snake medicine right now as I shed what was & transition to whatever will be. But it's a messy, heartbreaking process to let go and come to terms with how different things will always be."
And the opportunity to provide this for her changed my business and solidified my purpose. I reached out to Jerica, and explained the situation and that there was no one else I would trust with someone’s pet other than Cody. Jerica agreed and was there throughout the session making sure Dragon felt safe.
When Cody arrived she greeted Jerica and Dragon and plopped down on the ground to say hi to our scaly friend. Cody and Dragon became quick friends and they both served for the camera on the throne, the floor, and some cute standing poses. Cody brought two outfits as well as some tequila she and her late husband brought back from a trip to Mexico.
Throughout the session we were able to hold space for Cody, laugh, allow her to set her metaphorical shield and mask down allowing her to release and expand a bit into the next steps of her journey.
Knowing the space I cultivated into a sanctuary was next level. I love creating a space to celebrate weddings, birthdays and milestones. I love creating a safe space to be yourself. But this specific session unlocked the realization that what I do is More than Sexy Photos.
You are worthy of Love and Respect on every step of your Journey.
